Overview
Many applications of porous materials require extremely low gas permeability. Measurement of gas diffusion through such materials is essential for evaluating their performance. Such applications are found in many industries including biotech, healthcare, pharmaceutical, food, packaging, environmental, power sources and chemical industries. Determination of gas flow rates through porous materials is important for evaluating product performance in applications such as filtration, packaging, healthcare, biotechnology, and energy systems. PMI's Dynamic Moisture Permeation Analyzer measures water vapor transmission through porous materials such as textiles, leather, synthetic materials, membranes, nonwovens, and fabrics used in numerous high technology components and consumer products manufactured by a variety of industries. The instrument measures vapor transmission rates over a wide range of humidity, temperature, and pressure conditions under gradients of humidity, temperature, and pressure encountered in application environments.
- Humidity on either side of the sample can be controlled between 5% and 95% RH.
- Pressure gradient across the sample can be controlled between 0 and 10 Torr.
- Test temperature can be controlled between 10 °C and 40 °C.
- Simultaneous pressure and humidity gradients can be maintained.
- Flat samples in a wide range of sizes can be accommodated.
- It is commonly used to evaluate moisture transmission properties of medical gowns, protective clothing, and other breathable textile materials.
- Fully automated system including test execution, data acquisition, data storage, and data reduction.

Consistometer
PMI’s Computer-Controlled HPHT Consistometer, Model PMI‑CM‑40K, is designed to measure the viscosity and thickening behavior of cement slurry under high pressure and high temperature conditions. The instrument features a rotating slurry cup that operates at speeds up to 150 rpm and a stationary paddle‑type sensor. User‑defined temperature and pressure conditions are applied to the test chamber while the magnetically driven cup rotates and the slurry flows against the paddle sensor. The torque applied to the paddle during cup rotation is used to determine the slurry consistency. This instrument is used to evaluate cement thickening behavior under a wide range of downhole well conditions. The instrument is designed for easy operation via computer control, enabling accurate and reliable testing with minimal preparation time. The innovative hardware design makes the instrument easy to set up, easy to use and easy to clean. The custom PC software included with each unit allows the user to construct test sequences, run tests, and interpret test results quickly and with efficiency.
